Small business calculators
Small businesses rarely fail on the big idea. They fail on the arithmetic: a price that looks healthy until card fees and shipping come out, a first hire that costs more than the salary on the offer letter, a freelance rate that forgets unpaid admin time. These calculators cover that everyday math for owners, freelancers, and side hustlers.

About these tools
Work out margin versus markup, a price that hits a target margin, break-even volume, the real cost of an employee including payroll taxes, and an hourly rate that covers your income goal, expenses, and time off. A 50 percent markup is only a 33 percent margin. A US employer pays 7.65 percent FICA on top of wages before benefits or unemployment insurance. A freelancer who bills 1,000 hours a year has to charge twice the hourly rate that 2,000-hour salary math suggests.
Revenue, costs, and salaries you enter stay in your browser and are never uploaded or stored. Treat results as planning estimates: tax rates, benefits, and state rules vary, so confirm final figures with your accountant or payroll provider before you set a price or make a hire.
